Announcing Our 52-Week Project
How would you like to be inspired for a whole year, take your photography to another level, make a whole bunch of new friends and have a lot of fun at the same time? If that sounds a challenge you would enjoy then at The Photographer Within we have the perfect project for you.
Come and join our Project 52 – A Year in Song, and we promise you won’t regret it!
We think everyone in the TPW community is extra cool, so we knew we needed an extra cool project for 2014! Each week starting January 1st we’ll post a new theme using song lyrics from a well known song and ask you to shoot a photo based on that prompt. How you interpret the theme is completely up to you – be literal, be creative, be totally off the wall but most importantly show us. We want to see what you come up with! If you have been following our “hints” on Facebook the past couple of days, you have seen Lynne’s, Sarah’s, and Jes’s individual interpretations to various lines from Pink’s “Raise Your Glass.” Below is our final compilation from that song, inspired by the lyric “raise your glass.” Starting tomorrow, there will be a new lyric from a new and different song each week for your photo inspiration.
You can use your DLSR, your point and shoot, your phone camera, digital or film or why not mix it up and challenge yourself to try something new in 2014?
Our main hangout will be within the TPW forum and we’ll also have a presence on Facebook, Flickr and Instagram using the tag #TPWP52 plus Spotify amongst other places too!
At TPW we pride ourselves on the helpful and friendly nature of our team members, they all want to encourage your photography growth. As part of our Project 52 A Year in Song our team members will be sharing their shooting and processing tips and techniques through mini tutorials and videos.
Our members are the heart of TPW and we will be featuring our favorite member photos on the blog. We have such a talented group of photographers and we can’t wait to see the photos you shoot as part of The Photographer Within – a Year in Song.
Please check back in tomorrow, New Years Day, in TPW’s forums, on Facebook, Flickr, and Instagram for the official launch of week 1’s lyric. Then check back each Wednesday on any of those venues to see the new weekly lyric. If you are seeing this post for the first time later in 2014, it’s never too late to jump in and start participating. All are welcome!
So “Raise Your Glass” and have a very Happy New Year! We look forward to sharing an awesome 2014 with you!

Hi – sounds so fun! Do you need to be a paid member of TPW to participate in the challenge?
Bettye
Hi Bettye! You do not need to be a paid member to participate. We are also running the weekly themes on Facebook, Flickr, and Instagram so you can participate that way. TPW members, however, will have the opportunity to have their images showcased on our blog when we run highlights from the themes.
This sounds great! I just turned 17 but I have enjoyed photography since I was 14. I can’t wait to get in on this! 🙂
Hey Cheyenne – Glad to have you on board with our project! We’d love to see some teenage perspective on the weekly themes.
