Here’s a new installment of our “How I Did It” blog series.   Today we have Tiffany Kelly sharing the how-tos of creating your own customized  gallery wall.  So so cute!

I always get lots of compliments on and questions about my gallery walls, so I thought I would share some tips and tricks for creating your own! This is the gallery wall I created in our nursery for my youngest daughter. It’s currently my favorite cheery spot in the house 🙂

The yellow frames are from Cut it Out. They have TONS of adorable designs. They come unfinished and you can paint them whatever color you like! I used acrylic craft paint but you could also use spray paint. The options are endless. You can also take some sandpaper to them if you like the distressed look. To add glass you can either have some cut at a store like Michaels, or you can buy a cheap frame and the dollar store and just use the glass from it.

To create my layout I always lay the frames out on the floor and keep rearranging them until I’m happy with how it looks. I also text my mom several photos at this stage, asking for opinions 🙂 I take a “no hardware” approach to this project to keep things simple. I use 3M Command Strips to hang everything. The 5×7 frames get one strip across the top and larger frames get a strip on each side. That way it is SUPER easy to change things out if you change your mind, and if it’s not perfectly straight you can adjust it a little. You don’t even need a level if you have a smart phone! The iPhone comes with a level in the compass app, or you can download a level app. I used the ihandy level app; it’s free and available in the Apple and Google Play app stores.

So that’s it really… apply your Command Strips to the back of your frames and to your wall, and then pop those frames up there. Check with your level and simply adjust if needed. I love mixing other things in with the frames, in this case I have cloud cork boards from Land of Nod.

It’s so important to print and display those images! This is a fun project that allows you to be creative and get those gorgeous shots up on your wall!

Please let me know if you have any questions by leaving a comment!!!
